The Making of 'Northern Skies' A Painting Out Loud Art Vlog
2

This week I went to Kip & Nook in Yorkshire to do a painting commission and found myself inspired by the Northern skies. I made two paintings, both acrylic on board, but this art vlog is about more than just the final pieces.

For the first time, I started documenting the in-between thoughts…the moments where it wasn’t working, and the ones where it finally came together. I recorded little snippets on a whim, unsure if I’d ever use them. I felt a bit shy, or like maybe they didn’t matter. But a few days later, watching them back, I realised how important those in-between moments really were, not just for me, but for anyone watching too.

They show the real process. The struggle, the joy, the quiet figuring-it-out. It all weaves into this bigger journey I’m on; painting in different places, chasing the light, stretching myself, and trying to share more of what it actually feels like to make something.

So here it is. From Yorkshire. Northern skies.
